A set of cards belonging to Jesse Anderson (Johan Anderson in Japan) in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX The Crystal Beasts/Gem Beasts are a series of monster cards that will change into continuous spell cards after they destroyed. All of crystal beast monster were based on gemstones gathered from all over the world. From there, various support cards can be used to revive them.
Although weak in terms of actual strength, their aforementioned effects allow them to have great staying power. In addition, they are supplemented by many support cards which utilizes them in their Continuous Spell Card form. This archetype also contains the card "Rainbow Dragon", the ace card of the Crystal Beasts. It can be summoned quite easily as it can be only be played when there are the seven different Crystal Beasts on the field or in the graveyard. The card can also be summoned with the effect of Rainbow Gravity. This archetype also contains one of the most powerful OTK setups with Crystal Abundance, making them robust even against overpowering opponents.
In the TCG, Crystal Beasts are able to quickly swarm the field using Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus and Crystal Blessing to amass Crystal Beasts in the spell/trap zones, then use Crystal Beacon and Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle to summon them all at once. Besides this, when four Crystal Beasts exist in the spell/trap zones, Crystal Abundance allows the player to simultaneously send four or more cards on the opponent's field to the Graveyard and then summon an equal number of Crystal Beasts from the Graveyard. When used in such a fashion, Crystal Beast decks can accomplish a one-turn kill. Crystal Beasts are often used as a substitute for Continuous Spell Cards in Sacred Beast decks.
Interestingly enough, if you take the first letter of each crystal (excluding Emerald) you can spell CARATS (Cobalt, Amber, Ruby, Amethyst, Topaz, Sapphire), which is a measure of the mass of gemstones.
This set of Beasts seems to be related to the Gladiator Beasts, both being a "Beast" archetype and of Roman Descent. Both the Crystal and Gladiator Beast's effect seem to contradict themselves, since the Crystal Beast stay on the field after battle, while Gladiator Beasts tend to tag out for another after they have battled.
